A nice visit!

Burt's brother, Chester, is here from LA for a very SHORT but nice visit! We're very happy that business brought him out this way.
We were hoping to be able to introduce him to a two week old granddaughter...but he will miss her arrival by just a few hours!!!

A Gift That Will Prove Difficult To Top...

My belief that my daughter in law, Melissa, is a perfect fit for our family was confirmed last night when she and Ryan presented me with this gift. Could I have asked for anything more than a Jesus night light? I think not!
Oh...and...no baby yet! The little one apparently has her father's lack of punctuality.

Palin's Nonsensical Answer On Domestic Energy

Kind of ..um...interesting.
A heartbeat away?
Favorite sign seen in the crowd last week read: God's Will is NOT A Foreign Policy.

A beautiful day in Boston..

We walked all around Boston on a GORGEOUS day. Legal Seafoods welcomed dogs in their outdoor seating area, and even brought him some water in a china bowl.

My Dad - A Father's Day Tribute - Paul Peterson

Not father's day, but this song made me cry on the oldies station today. Found the video and cried again. For you Ryan!

Here is a photo from our "one month" anniversary. Obviously, we were happy and carefree, as we had not yet attempted to play cards together.

Marissa's 16th Birthday~

We celebrated Marissa's 16th birthday yesterday. She was happy to get (among other things) a new phone! Her old one was an antiquated "pay as you go" phone that was apparently holding her back socially and emotionally.;)
We went out for a yummy Japanese meal with Ryan and Melissa, and and then came back to our house for Marissa's favorite triple chocolate cake. It was then that
we discovered that we had only five candles. With some creative thinking and an old tube of pink frosting....we were able to make a pretty cake look pretty bad. At least it had a wobbly sixteen on it. After the cake we played spades, although Burt had a LOT of trouble with the rules and kept insisting on calling it bridge. Now I think that couples should be made to play card games before they start seriously dating.

A baby shower for Melissa

Yesterday we had a surprise baby shower for Melissa, my daughter in law. This photo of my mom and the "mother to be" was taken by a friend, Carin, on the new ..I phone.(the most cool thing ever)
The new arrival will be here in 34 days. Not that I am counting.=)
Melissa looks pretty sharp and decidedly comfortable in her "mother to be" tiara eh?

Road Trip!

Here we are in Atlantic City...sans puppy. We left him for the day at a "pet hotel" that looked GREAT on line, and sounded quite normal on the phone when I booked the day. It turns out it was run by complete wackos. They all appeared to be out of the movie, Whatever Happened To Baby Jane. But of course we just hoped he would forgive us and left him there because we really wanted to gamble and have a nice dinner.;)
It was all worth it in the end because I walked away with $8.00!!
Burt did a little better.

Ollie loves hotels! He doesn't necessarily love having his photo taken. He looks kind of embarrassed.

We visited Burt's boyhood home , schools, pool he belonged to, and even drove the very same path of his old his old paper route. =) It's fun to go back to ones old stomping grounds. Providing things have not changed too drastically.
